Terms of use

These terms of use describe an independent reference, not a manufacturer, dealer, repair shop, authority or legal adviser.

Terms

Motorcycle ATV UTV Specs is an independent reference publication about owning motorcycles, ATVs and side-by-sides. The site is not a manufacturer, a dealer, a repair shop, a licensing authority, a land manager or a legal adviser, and it is not affiliated with any brand named on it.

Nothing here is a substitute for your machine's own documentation, for the current text of a regulation, or for a decision made by the agency that has authority. Much of what this site covers is safety-relevant: braking, tires, loads on public roads, trail access, protective equipment.

Every figure here has to be confirmed against your machine's manual and the rules in force where you are before you rely on it. Use of Motorcycle, ATV and UTV Specs is subject to the terms below.

Last reviewed: 2026-09-19.

1. Who publishes this site

Motorcycle ATV UTV Specs is published by AIXIS LLC, a Vermont limited liability company ("we", "us", "the publisher"). These terms govern your use of the site. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.

2. What this site is, and what it is not

This site publishes reference material drawn from federal regulations, industry standards and arithmetic. It is not:

  • a manufacturer, importer, dealer or seller of any machine, part or accessory;
  • a repair, inspection or maintenance service, and it performs no work on any machine;
  • a licensing, registration, titling or enforcement authority of any kind;
  • a land manager, and it grants no permission to ride anywhere;
  • a provider of legal advice about the law in your state or jurisdiction;
  • affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any manufacturer or brand named on it.

Brand and model names appear only to identify which machines a particular standard, regulation or interface applies to. All trademarks are the property of their respective owners. Their use here is descriptive and nominative.

3. No guarantee of outcome, fitment or compliance

We make no guarantee that any figure, procedure, classification or calculator result on this site is correct for your machine, your load, your jurisdiction or your circumstances. In particular, nothing here establishes that a part will fit a machine, that a load is legal to move, that a machine may be ridden in a particular place, that a modification is lawful, or that any equipment satisfies a requirement.

Fitment, legal compliance and mechanical suitability are determined by the machine in front of you, its own documentation, and the authority with jurisdiction, not by this site.

4. Safety-relevant material

Much of this site concerns matters where an error can cause injury: braking systems and fluids, tires and wheels, load securement on public roads, protective equipment, and the operation of machines on public land. You must confirm every figure against your machine's manual and against the current text of any rule that applies before acting on it.

Where this site says to stop and consult a professional or an authority, that is the recommendation and not a formality.

Riding and operating these machines is inherently hazardous. Nothing here reduces that hazard or shifts responsibility.

5. Calculators

Calculators apply published rules and geometry to your numbers. They are tools for understanding a calculation, not certifications, ratings, legal opinions or engineering assessments. A result is only as good as the inputs, and it does not know the condition of your equipment, the state of your straps, or what happens to a load in motion.

Where a calculator result conflicts with a rating plate, a manual, or a rule as enforced where you are, that other source governs.

6. Regulations, standards and currency

Regulations and standards change. A model specification or riding report applies to its named edition and market; a source link does not establish that all later amendments or model changes are reflected here.

The current text published by the issuing authority is authoritative in every case, and links to it are provided for that reason.

State and local rules can differ. Guidance about one jurisdiction does not establish permission to ride, register or modify a machine elsewhere.

7. Intellectual property

The text, diagrams, page structure, calculator definitions and site design are the publisher's copyright, except for material quoted or cited from public documents, which remains subject to its own terms. You may read, print and link to pages for your own use, and you may quote a short passage with attribution and a link.

You may not republish substantial portions of the site. You may not scrape it systematically to build a competing reference, present its material as your own, or use it to train a model or product that reproduces it without written permission.

8. Third-party links

We link to regulations, standards bodies, agencies and other external resources so you can read a source directly. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content or availability, and a link is not an endorsement. Their own terms and privacy practices apply once you leave this site.

9. Acceptable use

Do not use this site in a way that interferes with its operation or with other visitors' use of it. Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of it. Do not submit anything through the contact form that is unlawful or abusive.

Do not use automated means to place unreasonable load on it. We may restrict access where any of these occur.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

This site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defect will be corrected.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither the publisher nor its members, officers or contributors is liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, property, business or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of this site or reliance on anything published on it, including personal injury or property damage arising from a maintenance decision, a fitment decision, a load, a modification, or the operation of any machine.

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to this site is limited to one hundred United States dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, in which case those exclusions apply only to the extent permitted.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the publisher against any claim arising from your use of this site in breach of these terms, or from your reliance on material here in a way these terms tell you not to rely on it.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Vermont, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles, and the state and federal courts located in Vermont have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

14. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. The revised version appears on this page with a new review date. The revision takes effect when published.

Continuing to use the site after that constitutes acceptance. If a change is material, it will be evident from the page instead of absorbed into existing wording.

15. Severability and contact

If a provision is held unenforceable, the rest continues. Questions about these terms go through the contact form, which is the only contact route on this site.

Terms of use questions

Is this site affiliated with any manufacturer?

No. The site is an independent reference publication and is not a manufacturer, importer, dealer, repair shop, licensing authority or land manager, and it is not endorsed or sponsored by any brand named on it. Brand and model names appear only to identify which machines a standard or rule applies to.

Can I rely on a figure here for a safety decision?

Not without confirming it against your machine’s manual and the current text of any rule that applies. Much of this site covers safety-relevant matters, brakes, tires, loads on public roads, protective equipment, and the terms require verification before reliance precisely because an error in those areas causes injury.

Does a calculator result prove my load is legal?

No. A calculator applies published rules to numbers you supply; it is not a certification and no enforcement authority is bound by it. Whether a specific load as secured complies is a judgement made by whoever inspects it, and a rating plate or a rule as enforced always governs over a result here.

Can I quote or link to pages on this site?

Yes: read, print and link freely, and quote a short passage with attribution and a link. What is not permitted is republishing substantial portions, systematic scraping to build a competing reference, presenting the material as your own, or using it to train a product that reproduces it.

Why does the site name brands if it is not affiliated?

Because identifying which machines a standard, regulation or interface applies to requires naming them. The use is descriptive and nominative, and trademarks remain the property of their owners. No use here is an endorsement in either direction, and no page here rates or recommends one brand over another.

What law governs these terms?

The laws of the State of Vermont, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, with the state and federal courts located in Vermont having exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from them. The publisher is a Vermont limited liability company, which is why that is the governing law.

What is the limitation of liability?

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, property or business, arising from use of the site or reliance on it. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, aggregate liability is limited to one hundred United States dollars.

Does this site give legal advice about state rules?

No. The rules pages describe which layer of authority decides what and which office to ask, and they do not state the rule in any particular state. Nothing here is legal advice, and a question about what is lawful where you live should go to the agency with jurisdiction.

What happens if a regulation changed after you checked it?

The current text published by the issuing authority is authoritative, and links to it are provided for exactly that reason. Every source carries a check date and a recheck schedule, both published, but material here may not reflect an amendment made after the date shown.

Can I use this material to train an AI model?

Not without written permission. Reading, printing, linking and short quotation with attribution are permitted; systematic reproduction, including using the material to train a model or product that reproduces it, is not. The restriction is in the intellectual property section and applies regardless of the technical means.

What counts as unacceptable use?

Interfering with the site’s operation or other visitors’ use of it, attempting unauthorised access, submitting unlawful or abusive content through the contact form, or using automated means to place unreasonable load on the site. Access may be restricted where any of these occur.

How will I know if the terms change?

The revised version appears on this page with a new review date. The revision takes effect when published. A material change will be evident from the page, not folded into existing wording, and continuing to use the site after a change constitutes acceptance of it.
