Which RMAX2 1000 trim to buy
Buy the R-Spec if you want the machine and will add what you need, the Sport if you want the adjustable shocks for fast riding without paying for a winch, the XT-R if you work the machine hard and want a winch and tool-less shock adjustment, and the LE if you want electronic suspension and audio. The Sport-to-XT-R step is $1,000 on Yamaha's 2026 price list. The R-Spec-to-Sport step is $2,000.
RMAX2 1000 against the Ranger 1000 and Talon 1000X
The RMAX2 1000 competes with Polaris's Ranger 1000 in the sport-utility segment and, on price and performance, sometimes with a sport model like Honda's Talon 1000X. It carries a 600 lb bed and a 2,000 lb tow rating, and its belt carries a 10-year warranty.
Yamaha Wolverine RMAX2 1000 Sport trims compared: Yamaha Wolverine RMAX2 1000 LE, Yamaha Wolverine RMAX2 1000 R-Spec, Yamaha Wolverine RMAX2 1000 XT-R
The four trims share the engine, frame and 30-inch tire size, and they differ in suspension, tires and equipment. The Sport has high- and low-speed adjustable FOX 2.0 piggyback shocks and no winch or audio system, which UTV Guide calls the most performance-focused.
The XT-R swaps in tool-less QS3 FOX shocks, and the LE, called Limited in Yamaha's marketing, adds FOX iQS electronic suspension controlled from the cockpit, an MTX audio system, a WARN VRX 4,500 lb winch and a full-color TFT display.
The R-Spec is the lowest-priced way in.
Yamaha announced a 10-year V-belt limited warranty for qualifying US vehicles. Check the applicable written warranty for model, ownership and use conditions. Warranty coverage does not remove the belt inspection and maintenance requirements in the operator manual.
2026 Yamaha Wolverine RMAX4 1000 XT-R: equipment and specifications
The Yamaha Wolverine RMAX4 1000 XT-R is the four-seat version of Yamaha's 999cc trail side-by-side, with FOX 2.0 QS3 piggyback shocks (14.2 in front and 16.9 in rear travel), 30-inch Maxxis Carnivore tires and a 118.1 in wheelbase. Yamaha lists the same dumping bed, a 600 lb cargo capacity and a 2,000 lb tow rating, and prices it at $25,999 plus $1,500 destination.
Dirt Wheels says buyers of the all-new RMAX get an unlocking rear differential, upgraded power steering and new brakes, that the original RMAX4 continues as the RMAX4 1000 Compact, and that the larger one has been stretched just over 30 inches to 118 inches total, giving back-seat passengers as much room as those in front.
It lists 12-volt power, cupholders and a small storage compartment under the center armrest among rear-cabin extras, and confirms the same 999cc twin-cylinder DOHC powerplant is in the four-seater. A later Dirt Wheels review praises an LED unit with a 50,000-hour life span for the trail's final technical sections, a three-speed adjustable blower that improves defrost, and closeable vents that keep rear passengers comfortable.

The 2026 Yamaha Wolverine RMAX2 1000 is a two-seat sport-utility side-by-side with a 999cc engine, an Ultramatic belt drive, 13.8 in of ground clearance, a 600 lb bed and a 2,000 lb tow rating. Yamaha sells it in four trims: R-Spec at $19,999, Sport at $21,999, XT-R at $22,999 and LE at $23,999, plus $1,400 destination.
All four use the same engine and drivetrain, so the choice is about shocks, tires and equipment. Sport is the performance trim with no winch or audio system.
2026 Yamaha Wolverine RMAX2 1000 Sport specifications and price
What the RMAX2 1000 is like to drive.
The RMAX2 1000 is a comfortable trail machine with the ground clearance for rocks. Dirt Wheels lists a 70 mph top speed, with 14.2 in of front travel and 16.9 in of rear travel on the two-seat models, running on 30x10-14 tires at all four corners.
UTV Guide credits the adjustable D-Mode system, which changes throttle response between Sport, Trail and Crawl settings, and says the machine is equally at home crossing open desert or crawling rocky switchbacks. The 4-seat RMAX4 is a separate machine with a shorter rear travel figure; this page covers the two-seat RMAX2.
The belt warranty and what it means
The Wolverine's belt drive comes with a 10-year belt warranty. Dirt Wheels reports that Yamaha's engineers said during RMAX development that the belt could not be broken, and Yamaha gave every CVT-equipped machine a 10-year belt-life warranty as a result. For a buyer, that removes the usual worry with a belt-drive sport-utility machine, since a belt is the typical wear item.

The Sport-to-XT-R step is $1,000 on Yamaha's 2026 price list. The R-Spec-to-Sport step is $2,000.
