What the Prowler 500 is for
The Prowler 500 is Arctic Cat's compact, affordable work machine. UTV Guide describes it as a compact, two-seat machine for lighter work, hunting and recreational trail use and says the new 500 series brings Arctic Cat back into the compact and affordable end of the utility UTV market.
It sits below the four Prowler 800 models, which use an 812cc three-cylinder and run from single-row seating for three to a six-passenger enclosed Crew Limited at $31,299.
Arctic Cat's own page lists a 443cc EFI engine, front and rear double A-arm suspension, 1,500 lb of towing capacity and enclosed storage as standard, which it calls class-leading (arcticcat.com). Equipment World notes the 500 series gets 25-inch tires and 1,000 lb total cargo capacity.
Prowler 500 or Prowler 500 Limited
The Limited costs $1,200 more at $11,999 (UTV Guide), and it adds the equipment most buyers would otherwise pay for afterward. The base Prowler 500 rides on Maxxis tires on steel wheels. The Limited has Duro tires on aluminum wheels, electronic power steering, a factory-installed 3,000 lb winch, a cargo mat in the dump box and backup lights (Arctic Cat).
A buyer who would add a winch and power steering anyway will spend less on the Limited than on a base machine with accessories, and a buyer who wants a plain working truck can save the $1,200.
Buying a new model year
The Prowler 500 is new for 2027. So there is no owner history to draw on yet, and reports about older Prowler 500 models do not describe this machine. Arctic Cat says the price shown is the manufacturer's suggested price and the final selling price is set by the dealer (arcticcat.com), so ask a dealer for an out-the-door figure that includes the $1,250 destination charge.
Prowler 500 against the Pioneer 520 and Ranger 500
The Prowler 500 competes directly with Honda's Pioneer 520 and Polaris's Ranger 500, both two-seat single-cylinder utility machines. It is priced at $10,799, between the Ranger 500's reported $9,999 and the Pioneer 520's $10,999, according to a Dirt Wheels comparison of those two. Its 1,500 lb tow rating matches the Ranger's and is 500 lb higher than the Pioneer's.
Arctic Cat’s 2027 launch announcement calls the 1,000 lb figure total cargo capacity. It does not identify that figure as a standalone dump-box rating; follow the separate vehicle and box labels when loading.
