Polaris Sportsman 570 and 600 specifications
Polaris · Utility
Polaris renamed the Sportsman 570 as the 600 for 2027 without a significant engine-performance change. The 2026 base 570 and 2027 EPS configuration below both list 567cc and 44 hp, but their equipment and prices differ. Polaris’s rename explanation applies to the name, not a promise that every trim is identical.

What the Sportsman 570 is good at
The Polaris is a familiar layout: independent A-arm suspension with preload-adjustable shocks, a stiffer setting for heavier riders and rougher use, and a Sportsman body style that dates back to the early 2000s. The base model carries a 90 lb front rack and a 180 lb rear rack, and a front-rack extender and winch mount are included even though no winch is fitted.
Owner reports: what wears on a Sportsman 570
Sportsman 570 owners describe reliable machines with two or three cheap, predictable wear items. On a Rokslide forum thread, owners advise buying a spare fuel pump or rebuild kit because the pump "will fail," expecting to replace wheel bearings if you ride in a lot of mud, and checking the clutch and belt covers for water and dirt entry.
One owner had replaced only the front wheel bearings in 20 years, and another said he would buy a 570 over an 800 again mainly for the better fuel consumption.
A person relaying what dealers told them said the machines that give regular trouble belong to farms and nurseries where employees do no maintenance and leave them covered in mud.
For a used 570, ask when the fuel pump and wheel bearings were last done, check the clutch cover seal, and look for a machine that has been washed, not just parked.
Sportsman 570 or 570 EPS
The base 570 has no power steering. Polaris sells the power-steering version as the separate 570 EPS trim. If you ride for hours on rough ground, power steering saves your arms.
The EPS is the one to look at. If you ride short distances at low speed, the base machine at $7,999 costs less.
Sportsman 570 against the Rancher and Kodiak 450
Honda's FourTrax Rancher and Yamaha's Kodiak 450 EPS are the Sportsman 570's natural rivals in the mid-size utility class. The comparison distinguishes how their engines, weights and towing ratings line up; read them against the Polaris's 1,350 lb tow rating and independent rear suspension.

Sportsman 600 EPS against the Alterra 600 and Outlander DPS 700
Arctic Cat's Alterra 600 and Can-Am's Outlander DPS 700 are the closest rivals with power steering and similar engine size. The Can-Am is lighter and cheaper on paper. The Alterra is close on price.
Is the 2027 Polaris Sportsman 600 EPS a new machine?
EPS identifies the multi-select electronic power steering. Check the exact trim’s engine-braking equipment and any installed winch separately; a photograph or the EPS name alone does not establish the accessory package.
A Cycle Shack listing for the 2027 Sportsman 600 EPS corroborates the $9,399 asking price, 567cc displacement and 44 hp rating. That dealer’s individual listing is not an out-the-door quote for another machine.
Touring 600: carrying a passenger
The 2027 Sportsman Touring 600 is the two-up version. Polaris lists a removable passenger seat, 11 gallons of combined storage and 270 lb of combined rack capacity. Those features concern the Touring configuration; the single-seat base machine above has its own equipment.
The Touring starts at $11,499 MSRP, plus a $700 destination charge. For a second rider, compare the passenger seat and handholds rather than assuming that a rack on a solo ATV is a seat. Polaris Touring 600 equipment and current price.

A renamed machine, so read older reviews as this one
Polaris's own page states the 600 EPS is the machine previously sold as the Sportsman 570. That means earlier 570 reviews and owner reports describe the same platform, and the Sportsman 570 page on this site holds that research. The rename raises a small trap for a used buyer: a listing for a 570 and a listing for a 600 EPS can be the same machine at different prices.
What a review of the 600 says.
A specifications review of the 600 praises the fully independent suspension for absorbing bumps on rough terrain, credits the ergonomic design and seating for long rides without fatigue, and says riders can reach 30 mph in a few seconds from the 600cc engine.
Polaris hosts owner reviews of the Sportsman line on its own site, where owners write that the comfort and reliability is amazing and one says the 450 has plenty of power. Owner reviews on a maker's own site are selected and should not be your only evidence.
EPS or the base 600.
The EPS adds electronic power steering, a winch and engine braking over the base Sportsman 600. Those three make the difference on long days and steep descents. They are why the EPS costs more. If you ride only short distances on light tasks, the base machine is enough.

Is the 2027 Polaris Sportsman 600 EPS a new machine?
There is no 2026 Sportsman 600 to compare this page against, because the name is new for 2027. Polaris's own FAQ states plainly: "Sportsman 600 is the same vehicle previously known as the 570. The vehicles are largely unchanged, with no significant differences to engine displacement, horsepower, or performance.
The rename was made to make vehicles easier to shop and compare across the lineup." The 567cc displacement and 44 hp figures on this page match what Polaris published for the 570.

Owners say it needs little beyond routine care and that mud is what wears it.
The Sportsman 570 is a working ATV with enough power for the job. Outdoor Life tested the HD Utility version on a hunt with mud, muskeg, heavy towing and thick brush and concluded it gave plenty of power and control, handled well in tight spaces, sipped fuel and was a durable platform for hard work. The reviewer noted that the 44 hp single is medium-sized next to the 78 hp Sportsman 850.

Not the base model. Polaris sells power steering on the separate Sportsman 570 EPS trim. The base machine has a 90 lb front rack, a 180 lb rear rack and a 1,350 lb tow rating.
Owners on forums report fuel pumps failing, wheel bearings wearing in muddy use, and water or dirt getting into the clutch and belt housing. All are inexpensive, and the same owners say the machine is otherwise reliable.
