The Ducati Monster is Ducati's entry-level naked bike, rebuilt around an all-new 890cc V2 engine and a monocoque frame in place of the 937cc Testastretta of the previous 937cc generation. Ducati lists 110.7 hp, a 386 lb weight without fuel and a 32.1 in seat, at $13,295 plus $995 destination. It is the model to look at if you want a lightweight, low-seat Ducati with real rider aids.

AMCN praised lightweight agility, torquey and flexible V2 power, intuitive and useful rider aids and a bike that is fun and easy to ride even in the rain.
It lists four power modes, eight levels of traction control, four of wheelie control, three of engine braking and three of cornering ABS, and adds that smaller and less experienced riders will relish the low seat, smooth Urban and Wet-mode engine and easy agility. RevZilla reports that the stock suspension is set for a 75 to 85 kg (165 to 187 lb) rider, that Ducati offers a seat 20 mm lower plus a lowering kit that takes the seat 20 mm lower again, and that the throttle is now ride-by-wire.
Ducati’s 2026 launch specifies a monocoque frame and 890cc V2. The earlier 937cc Monster already used an aluminum Front Frame, so a reference to a tubular-trellis Monster should not be applied to that preceding model. Ducati 2026 launch; Ducati 937 specification.
What changed from the 937
The change is a full engine-family swap, not a facelift. The 2026 Monster moved from the 937cc Testastretta 11° to a new 890cc V2, and from the 937’s aluminum Front Frame to a monocoque with a technopolymer trellis rear subframe. Power barely moved, from 111 hp to 110.7 hp.
So the difference is in weight, service intervals and electronics. RevZilla notes the longer maintenance intervals as part of the pitch. The 890cc and 937cc engines and their chassis specifications must be treated as different generations.
Who it fits
The Monster fits a rider who wants a lightweight bike with a low seat and a full electronics package without the price of a Streetfighter. A quoted test-bike spring setup does not determine fit for every rider; check sag, adjustment and the actual spring specification with riding gear and luggage included. Compare it against Yamaha's XSR900 and Kawasaki's Z900 for price: both cost about $2,700 to $3,300 less.
Monster against the XSR900 and Z900
Yamaha's XSR900 and Kawasaki's Z900 are the closest Japanese rivals, and both are cheaper. Look at weight and price: the Ducati is the lightest of the three by 39 lb or more, and the most expensive.

A rider above about 187 lb will find the stock spring rate on the soft side, and a taller rider should look at the Monster's rivals. Ducati lists 110.7 hp at 9,000 rpm from the new 890cc V2. The previous 937cc Testastretta made 111 hp, so the power is essentially the same.
Testers describe a low seat and easy agility. Ducati sells a seat 20 mm lower and a lowering kit that takes the seat another 20 mm closer to the ground.
