Cycle World says the 2025 model has a new 50.4 PMSM motor delivering 37 Nm (27 lb-ft) and 19.2 kW (25.7 hp) peak, that the Freeride E is close to a full-size dirt bike on 21- and 18-inch wheels but not quite as large in overall dimensions, and that it stands in a class of its own. Visordown notes the previous version put 22 hp through the same frame as the gasoline Freeride 250 and 350.
KTM lists a WP XACT USD fork with 250 mm of travel and a XPLOR PDS shock with 240 mm, a 910 mm seat and 360 mm of ground clearance. Claimed weight is 112 kg and torque 37.6 Nm. Destination is $690.
Against a gasoline enduro
Riding areas that ban noisy bikes are where it makes the most sense.
Ask how long a full charge takes and what range riders get on your kind of trail, since Total Motorcycle quotes power figures and not range. Check the battery warranty and how the battery has been stored. Test the ride modes, because the motor's response is adjustable.
Ask whether the bike can be registered for road use where you live, or whether it is limited to private land. Compare the price with a gasoline 150 XC-W.
KTM FREERIDE E — specification referenceKTM · Electric trail
The Freeride E is KTM's electric trail bike, rebuilt for 2025 as what KTM calls a 99 percent new model with a permanent-magnet motor. Cycle World says it stands in a class of its own among orange off-road bikes, and KTM asks $9,999 before destination.
Total Motorcycle lists 11 kW nominal power, 19.2 kW peak, more than 37 Nm of torque and a top speed of 95 km/h, from a quieter, cooler, water- and dustproof motor. The same source says the Freeride E tackles some of the environmental issues of off-roading, with low emissions and near-silent operation that means it can be ridden almost anywhere, and calls it KTM's first expression of an electric dual-sport with low maintenance.

Against a petrol enduro
At $9,999 the Freeride E costs $3,500 less than the 500 EXC-F and $500 less than the 150 XC-W. What it gives up is range and quick refueling. What it gains is silence, no premix, no clutch and near-zero maintenance. Riding areas that ban noisy bikes are where it makes the most sense.
Who it suits
The Freeride E suits a rider who wants a trail bike for woods and private land close to home, and who will charge between rides. A rider who needs a full day away from a plug should choose a petrol bike.
