KTM lists a 1,357 mm (53.4 in) wheelbase, a 43 mm WP Apex fork, a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc with a single-piston floating caliper. The seat has two positions, 820 or 800 mm (32.3 or 31.5 in), which lets a shorter rider choose the low setting.

At 165 kg (364 lb) fully fueled it is heavier than the Honda CB300R's 316 lb curb weight, but with 398.7cc it has 112cc more engine.

Against the small nakeds

Honda's CB500F costs $5,899, matching the KTM's price when the KTM was listed at that figure, and weighs 414 lb, and Honda's SCL500 is $6,999 at 425 lb. Honda's CB300R at $4,499 is the cheapest and lightest at 316 lb, and the CB650R at $8,699 is the larger option. The 390 Duke is the only single in the group with a peaky powerband, so try it before deciding between it and the Honda twins.

390 Duke against the CB500F and CB300R

Honda's CB500F and CB300R are the closest small nakeds. The Honda twin is smoother, and the KTM is more peaky.

KTM 390 Duke — specification reference

Rider Magazine says upgrades like ride modes, cornering traction control and adjustable suspension pushed the price up to $5,899. But that it is still a reasonably priced bike that is more fun than ever.

It reports revised 17-inch cast-aluminum wheels with Michelin Power 6 tires that cut unsprung weight by nearly 10 lb, and says a lot of shifting is needed to stay in the meat of the powerband, though the six-speed gearbox with slip/assist clutch does the job with minimal effort.

KTM · Standard

The KTM 390 Duke is KTM's entry-level naked streetfighter, built around a single-cylinder 398.7cc engine in the brand's signature steel-trellis frame, and is the accessible entry to the larger Duke line. KTM lists a 165 kg fully fueled weight and a dual-option seat of 820 or 800 mm. It is unchanged from 2025.

What changed on the 2026 KTM 390 Duke since 2025?

Nothing in the published specifications: engine, chassis and dimensions carried over from the 2025 model.

2026 KTM 390 Duke compared to the 250 Duke

KTM builds the 390 Duke and 250 Duke on the identical steel-trellis chassis: KTM's own pages list the same 165kg fully-fueled weight, the same 1,357mm wheelbase and the same 150mm of travel at both ends for either bike.

The entire difference the two spec pages describe is the engine: 398.7cc here against 249.07cc on the smaller model, a roughly 60% displacement gap that translates directly to more midrange pull and passing power on this model without any change in how the chassis handles, since the running gear underneath is not different between them.

2026 KTM 390 Duke questions

How much does the KTM 390 Duke weigh?

KTM lists 165 kg (about 364 lb) fully fueled, with a two-position seat at 820 or 800 mm. The wheelbase is 1,357 mm.

What did the 2024 KTM 390 Duke add?

Rider Magazine lists ride modes, cornering traction control, adjustable suspension and new wheels with Michelin Power 6 tires that reduced unsprung weight by nearly 10 lb.

Set the seat before comparing the two Dukes

The 390's published seat choices are 820 and 800 mm. Ask which setting and parts the offered motorcycle uses, then try the lever reach and foot position in riding equipment. The lower setting is not a substitute for checking control of the motorcycle. Compared with the 250, the price figures here differ by $1,300, while both list 165 kg fully fuelled.

Choosing the smaller engine therefore does not establish a lower transport weight. Inspect the actual machine and compare its included equipment, condition and service work due before making a capacity-based price judgement.
