Against the 450 SX-F and 250 SX
At $11,449 the 350 SX-F is $200 under the 450 SX-F and $1,800 above the KTM 250 SX. The weight difference to the 450 is small. The case for the 350 is the character of the engine: more revs to use than a 450, with less that can go wrong when you get a corner wrong.
The 350 SX-F suits a rider who wants four-stroke reliability and a light feel but finds a 450 tiring over a full moto. Compare the 350 SX-F with the 450 SX-F for the intended race class and rider requirements. A smaller engine does not by itself establish easier or safer control.
350 SX-F against the 450 SX-F and CRF250R
KTM's 450 SX-F is the obvious step up, and Honda's CRF250R is the closest four-stroke alternative in size.
KTM 350 SX-F — specification referenceDirt Bike Magazine says the 350's advantage over the 450 "has nothing to do with weight, although riders will insist that it's far lighter", and that today's 450s have come a long way. But the 350SX-F "still is far easier to handle than any 450".
It reports that the 350 motor got its last big redesign for the 2023 model year, that this year's bike is more comfortable, that there are tracks where the 350 can make a full lap entirely in third gear, and that last year's bike generated fewer complaints about chassis stiffness than the 450.
KTM · Motocross
The 350 SX-F is the middleweight four-stroke in KTM's motocross line, and Dirt Bike Magazine keeps finding it far easier to handle than a 450 even with today's tamer 450s. KTM asks $11,449 before destination.

2027 KTM 350 SX-F questions
Is the KTM 350 SX-F easier to ride than a 450?
Dirt Bike Magazine says it is still far easier to handle than any 450, though it adds that today's 450s are more manageable than ever.
Does any other brand build a 350 motocross bike?
Dirt Bike Magazine said that despite riders being drawn to the middleweight format, no other factory offered one when it tested the 350 SX-F.
When was the KTM 350 motor last redesigned?
Dirt Bike Magazine says the 350 motor got its last big redesign for the 2023 model year.
Its earlier full test says at the low end of the rpm scale the power is decent enough to pull out of a turn without the clutch and never feels like it is on the brink of stalling. The article also says that despite evidence that riders are drawn to the middleweight format, no other factory offers one, and that a 2016 wheel recall for chronic broken spokes appeared fixed on the 2017 model.
The 350 SX-F suits a rider who wants four-stroke reliability and a light feel but finds a 450 tiring over a full moto. It is a favorite of intermediate and vet riders because it makes speed easier to carry.
The middle-capacity motocross option
A 350 SX-F comparison with the 450 should start with how the rider uses the engine through a complete session, rather than assuming the larger displacement is always more useful. Identify gearing, exhaust and suspension changes on a used example, and ask how the current setup differs from the manufacturer's specification.
The shared motocross purpose does not establish identical response or the same maintenance history. Compare the work due and the condition of controls, wheels and suspension before treating two advertised prices as equivalent offers.
