Triumph Scrambler 1200 X specifications

Triumph · Classic

RevZilla says the suspension now has less stroke, 6.7 inches instead of 7.9, to lower the seat to a new 32.3-inch height, and that the motor has a larger 50 mm throttle body (up from 45 mm), a revised intake and a modified exhaust intended to add top-end power and subtract heat that has historically roasted the rider's right leg.

The price of $14,445 is $2,050 more than the Scrambler 900 at $12,395, for a bigger engine and longer travel. The 1200 is 10 lb heavier than the 900's 492 lb and its seat is 1.2 in taller.

Sit on it with the standard seat and with the accessory low seat if a dealer has one. Ask whether the heat problem on the right leg is improved on the bike you are shown. Check the accessory list for the seat.

Ask about the quality issues owners mention. Look at the tires, which need to suit the trail use you plan.

The Scrambler 1200 suits a rider who wants a stylish, capable, torquey scrambler for road and light trails and can accept a firm seat. A shorter rider should test the low-seat option.

Scrambler 1200 against the Scrambler 900 and Tiger 900

Triumph's Scrambler 900 is the smaller sibling, and the Tiger 900 is the adventure alternative.

Triumph Scrambler 1200 X — specification reference

Motorcycle News says that although the 228 kg weight seems hefty for a scrambler, the impressively low seat height of 820 mm (795 mm with the accessory seat) makes it not intimidating to ride or difficult to navigate.

It says most Scrambler 1200 owners have not had many major problems, though a few quality issues have been reported over the years, that the seat is not the most comfortable and the bike is not the roomiest for a taller rider, and that the XE remains a beautiful machine with its high seat and long-travel suspension.

Triumph · Classic

The Scrambler 1200 is Triumph's long-travel modern-classic scrambler, revised for 2024 with a lower seat and a bigger throttle body. Motorcycle News says its weight is not intimidating thanks to a low seat, and Triumph asks $14,445.
