Kawasaki KX250F specifications
Kawasaki · Motocross
The 2027 KX250F is a refinement year. Cycle News lists returning features including Ergo-Fit adjustable handlebar mounts and footpegs, Showa suspension, a Nissin hydraulic clutch, dual fuel injectors, quick air-filter access and selectable power modes, and says the engine is claimed to make 0.7 hp more than the 2026 model.
Kawasaki also reshaped the clutch and brake levers for a broader, more natural feel and fitted a shorter fender that includes a mounting location for a LitPro-style GPS unit planned for the 2027 KX450F, which shares the fender.

What changed for 2027
Power builds noticeably in the middle and continues to pull toward redline. So the top end never makes the next shift feel urgent.
Suspension, brakes and fit
Cycle News says the settings worked well for 190 lb veteran riders but a smaller rider moving up to a 250F may find the suspension too firm, and lists the rear as a Uni-Trak single shock with dual-range compression damping and 22-way rebound damping plus adjustable preload. Dirt Bike Magazine noted that the brakes and clutch feel crisper this year, that motocrossers have almost all been asked to reduce sound output for 2027, and that the bike is a little cramped in the rider's compartment and does not inspire with handling brilliance despite decent suspension.
Engine work, Aggressive mode and the tuning app
Kawasaki's 2027 engine changes are aimed at a broader, more controllable powerband. Total Motorcycle lists refinements to the combustion chamber, a revised exhaust pipe length, an optimized silencer and updated fuel-injection settings for a crisper, more linear throttle, plus a larger-capacity clutch that improves power transfer for better control out of corners.
The updated Aggressive mode uses advanced ignition timing and slightly leaner fueling for a sharper feel, and a smartphone app lets riders adjust fuel and ignition settings like the old FI calibration kits and log maintenance and setup information.
The front fender is about 1.2 in shorter with a steeper profile, which also reduces weight.
Dirt Bike Magazine says the KX250F's weight is unchanged and reads 232 lb without fuel on its scale, and, in its shootout, praised KTM's 250 SX as this year's horsepower king. So the Kawasaki's edge is its electronics and adjustability more than its raw power.
KX250F against the CRF250R, RM-Z250 and YZ250
Honda's CRF250R costs the same at $8,599 and weighs 234 lb, and Suzuki's RM-Z250 is $8,499 at 233 lb. Yamaha's YZ250 is a two-stroke at $8,099 and 227 lb. Of the three four-strokes, the KX250F is the lightest at 230.9 lb.
Kawasaki KX250F — specification referenceThe 2027 Kawasaki KX250F is a 249cc liquid-cooled DOHC four-stroke motocross bike with selectable power modes, Kawasaki TRaction Control, Launch Control Mode and a 49 mm Showa inverted fork. For 2027 Kawasaki claims 0.7 hp more, and new levers, revised mapping, a stronger clutch and updated suspension give it a polished, race-ready feel. It suits a racer who wants electronics and adjustability, and a smaller rider may find the suspension firm.
Kawasaki claims the 2027 engine makes 0.7 hp more than the 2026 model, per Cycle News. Power builds in the midrange and pulls toward redline, so the top end never feels urgent.
Possibly. Cycle News says the stock settings suit 190 lb veteran riders, and a smaller rider moving up to a 250F may find the suspension too firm.
