How the CBR600RR rides

The CBR600RR is a small, high-revving bike that rewards a committed rider. MCN reports peak power of 119 bhp at 14,250 rpm, with the whole engine coming alive above 7,000 rpm and letting out a race-inspired scream between shifts. Fast Bikes found the bike appreciably small at 5 ft 9 in, with relatively swept-back bars, a low seat and pegs that are hard on the knees, and noted that the power peaks at 14,000 rpm with torque at over 11,000 rpm.

Living with a CBR600RR on the road

The CBR600RR is usable on the street more than its looks suggest. MCN's long-term tester, at 5 ft 6 in, found the bike surprisingly comfortable thanks to an 18-liter tank and splayed bars, but wanted to get off after a long distance to rest. Firm but fair standard suspension and a set of Continental Conti Race Attack 2 street tires encouraged holding revs longer and shifting down more aggressively.

Its 32.4 in seat sits between the Suzuki's 31.9 in and the Kawasaki's 32.7 in. Honda's own CBR650R at $9,199 is $2,300 cheaper but 47 lb heavier at 466 lb.

Fuel economy, heat and price on the CBR600RR

The standard suspension, Fast Bikes says, is Showa 41mm USD forks with full adjustability. The same test calls the bike's price the most attractive thing about it, noting that better brakes and more horsepower can be bought but a more worthy bike at its price is hard to find.

CBR600RR against the ZX-6R and GSX-R600

Edge Performance Sports notes the GSX-R600 sits low with a 31.9 in seat and describes the group as razor-sharp, high-revving and built for aggressive performance. On price, the Suzuki lists at $12,499 to the Honda's $11,499 and the ZX-6R at $11,599, and the Kawasaki has the largest engine at 636cc.

The cited MCN and Fast Bikes riding reports concern the UK-market CBR600RR. Their rider-aid, display and power descriptions do not establish equipment on the US model. Match the market, year and exact trim against Honda’s US CBR600RR listing before comparing a used motorcycle.

2026 Honda CBR600RR questions

How much power does a Honda CBR600RR make?

MCN reports 119 bhp at 14,250 rpm on the UK-market bike. Fast Bikes says about 120 bhp with peak power at 14,000 rpm and peak torque at over 11,000 rpm. It is a bike to keep above 7,000 rpm.

Is the CBR600RR comfortable enough for road riding?

A 5 ft 6 in MCN tester found it surprisingly comfortable, thanks to an 18-liter tank and splayed bars, but wanted a rest after a long ride. It is a small, sporty bike, so expect to feel your knees on long days.

The 2026 Honda CBR600RR is a 599cc inline-four supersport with a close-ratio six-speed gearbox, dual-stage fuel injection, ram air and a Honda Multi-Action System inverted fork. It makes about 119 hp at 14,250 rpm in the UK-market form reviewers tested, and it comes alive above 7,000 rpm. It suits a rider who wants a small, high-revving track-capable supersport that is still usable on the road.

The rider aids are easy to cycle through, and the tester chose the highest power mode with the lowest engine braking for almost any road.

Honda lists the CBR600RR at $11,499, which is $100 under Kawasaki's ZX-6R at $11,599 and $1,000 under Suzuki's GSX-R600 at $12,499. At 419 lb curb it is 13 lb lighter than the ZX-6R's 432.2 lb. Its 4.8 gal tank is the largest of the three, so it has the longest range on a track day or a touring loop.

Its 32.4 in seat sits between the Suzuki's 31.9 in and the Kawasaki's 32.7 in. Honda's own CBR650R at $9,199 is $2,300 cheaper but 47 lb heavier at 466 lb.

The CBR600RR has a few quirks. MCN 's long-term bike returned 54.8 mpg across 120 miles between fill-ups. But the tester discovered there is no fuel gauge on the bike, only a range indicator that appears on the TFT dash once the fuel light comes on, and found the under-seat exhaust gets incredibly hot in summer riding. The standard suspension, Fast Bikes says, is Showa 41mm USD forks with full adjustability.

The same test calls the bike's price the most attractive thing about it, noting that better brakes and more horsepower can be bought but a more worthy bike at its price is hard to find.
