Honda CRF300L Rally specifications, dimensions and price
Honda · Dual-sport
The Honda CRF300L Rally is a street-legal adventure dual-sport with a 286cc liquid-cooled single, a six-speed gearbox, ABS and long-travel suspension. Reviewers say it makes 25 to 27 hp, that it is aimed at new riders more than experienced adventurers, and that its range of about 200 miles between fuel stops and good wind protection make it a real all-day road bike.
It suits a new or returning rider who wants dirt-road ability without a big bike's weight.

How much power the Rally has, and what that means
The Rally is a modest-power bike, and reviewers agree about it. Cycle News calls the 286cc single bulletproof and a significant upgrade from the 249cc engine it replaced. But says its 27 horsepower may not impress when the throttle is opened.
The write-up also notes that with a full tank the bike weighs about 330 lb, considerable for a motor making under 30 hp. A Dirt Bike Magazine tester who is experienced found the output, around 25 hp on top, hard to get past. The magazine says the Rally is more powerful than its predecessor but still aimed more at new riders than experienced adventurers.
Where the Rally is at home
The Rally is at home on pavement and gravel. Dirt Bike Magazine says it has excellent range, about 200 miles between gas stops, and good wind protection. So you can ride 200 miles without feeling like an overused crash-test dummy.
It also warns that an experienced off-road rider taking it out with friends on 300 two-strokes and serious off-road machines will be far outside the bike's comfort zone. The 35.2 in seat is tall, so a shorter rider should sit on one first.
Fuel range, ABS and suspension limits on the Rally
The Rally's big tank is the reason to pick it over the standard CRF300L. Cycle News calls the 3.4 gal tank, against 2.1 gal on the L, a major selling point at about 250 miles between fill-ups, and notes the seat is wide and well cushioned. Honda sells the Rally with or without ABS, a $300 upgrade that adds an off-road mode.
The same review warns that when the tester got up on the pegs for a bump, that was the cue that the rear shock was about to be overridden.
Dirt Bike Magazine lists a claimed 333 lb including about 21 lb of fuel in the tank, which Honda increased by 0.7 gal, and a new clutch design Honda calls slip assist that reduces engine braking and uses engine torque to assist engagement, with a ridiculously light clutch pull. It found the suspension soft: small riders around 120 lb are more appropriate, and even they would benefit from more damping.
CRF300L Rally against the KLX300, XT250 and KLX230
The Rally is priced above its rivals at $6,499, compared with $5,649 for Kawasaki's KLX300 and $5,499 for the KLX230, and it is the heaviest of the group at 333 lb. Yamaha's XT250 is the other dual-sport at 291 lb. Its case is ABS, range and wind protection.

Yes. Dirt Bike Magazine says the Rally is aimed more at new riders than experienced adventurers, with output around 25 to 27 hp. It is heavy for that power at 333 lb, so a shorter beginner should check the 35.2 in seat.
About 200 miles between gas stops, according to Dirt Bike Magazine, which also praises its wind protection. Honda lists a 3.4 gal tank.
