Honda CRF300F specifications, dimensions and price

Honda · Trail

The Honda CRF300F is a 293cc air-cooled, fuel-injected trail bike with a six-speed manual gearbox, a twin-spar frame, a Showa fork and 21-inch and 18-inch wheels. It replaced the CRF250F with a bigger engine, an extra gear and longer-travel suspension. It suits a newer or casual trail rider, a teenager moving up from a 125 or an adult who wants a forgiving four-stroke, and it is easy to ride slowly in technical terrain.

What the CRF300F changed from the CRF250F

The CRF300F is a bigger, stronger CRF250F. Motorcycle.com lists a 294cc engine, a new six-speed transmission, improved suspension and updated ergonomics, and says the CRF250F's five-speed always felt limiting. So the extra gear finally gives the bike the legs it needed.

The front is a 41mm Showa fork with 9.5 in of travel, up from 8.5 in on the 250F. The Pro-Link rear shock gives 9.1 in. RevZilla adds that the changes came free of charge in the 2026 model year, with the CRF300F keeping its predecessor's $4,999 price.

Who the CRF300F suits

The CRF300F is a trail bike for a newer or casual rider. Motocross Hideout, whose author has owned everything from a TTR125 to a WR450F, recommends a smooth and predictable trail bike such as the Honda CRF300F, Kawasaki KLX230R or KLX300R for that rider. The seat is 35.0 in, so a shorter rider should check the reach before buying.

The air-cooled engine keeps maintenance simple. It is a trail bike, not a street bike: for road registration Honda sells the CRF300L.

Gearing, clutch and what testers wanted more of

Honda redesigned the transmission from the ground up for the CRF300F. RevZilla says the new gear ratios and heat-resistant clutch discs are the most beneficial upgrade, whether or not a rider often uses top gear, and that the tester saved every front-wheel tuck but would fit more aggressive rear brake pads. The CRF250F it replaces arrived in 2019 with fuel injection, reworked suspension and a 250cc engine.

Motorcycle.com calls it a better bike for the exact same price, with a 35.0 in seat that is just a hair taller than the 250F's 34.8 in, and says the clutch uses more heat-resistant materials for long technical trail sections. The same review counted the weight, soft suspension and mild engine as reasons the tester was less than satisfied, though thankful for Honda's reliability record.

CRF300F against the TT-R230 and KLX300

Yamaha's TT-R230 is the closest trail-bike rival, at 223cc, 251 lb and $4,699, and Motocross Hideout explains the difference: the TT-R230 has more top-end horsepower but noticeably less low-end torque, and that source calls its seat height appropriate for most teens. Kawasaki's KLX300 is the bigger option, and the KLX140R is a smaller trail bike for young riders.

No. The CRF300F is an off-road trail bike. Honda sells the CRF300L, a dual-sport with street equipment, for riders who want a road-legal version of the same idea.

The CRF300F has a 293cc engine, a six-speed gearbox instead of five speeds, a 41mm Showa fork with 9.5 in of travel instead of 8.5 in, and updated ergonomics, per Motorcycle.com. RevZilla notes Honda kept the price the same.
